Kokua Mau Monthly Meeting with Bob Kane May 30 2018

We hope you can join us for a very special event to talk story with Bob Kane, has been the driving force behind the Hospice Class at ‘Iolani School. Bob is retiring from ‘Iolani school and leaving Hawaii, so we have invited him to share about his experiences of his work with students over the last 20 years in Hawaii and other places.
Please share this with educators from schools you are connected with as this program has made such a difference to the students who participate.
Please note that we changed the date from our usual last Thursday of the month for the Kōkua Mau meeting to Wednesday May 30.
With 20 years of experience as an English teacher, end-of-life educator, and hospice caregiver, Bob joined ‘Iolani School in 2014 to teach a new hospice class.
In Hawaii‘i he has developed friendships and partnerships with nursing homes and hospice agencies which have provided their students with opportunities to give back to those in need. At ‘Iolani School Bob has also taught 8th grade English, Creative Non-Fiction and a new course titled Literature of Loss.
Bob received an NAIS Leading Edge Award for his secondary school hospice curricula at The Norman Howard School, and developed hospice programs at The Harley School, Mercy High School and The Grammar School in Sligo, Ireland. Bob’s programs are internationally recognized, featured in print and media, as well as in the 2013 award winning documentary film Beginning With The End. Trailer
