Oncology on Canvas 2020 Modified
April 3, 2020 @ 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm HST
Update March 16, 2020
Aloha Nui Loa,
Today, in the context of the Covid 19 crisis and the associated precautionary cancellation of many group events, 2020 Oncology on Canvas (OOC) at Tripler will be changed. While we won’t be sharing our cancer experiences at OOC as we have in the past, we’re going to keep the spirit of OOC alive.
I’ll be passing out art supplies to patients who come to the clinic.
At your home, you can create and share your cancer experiences by expressing your cancer journey through your artwork and sharing the accompanying story. It is with a heavy heart that we change our traditional 2020 OOC gathering and instead work at home.
“Dr. Pat”
Oncology on Canvas – Now at your home!
- Our oncology journey has been a stressful experience that too often is difficult to put into words. OOC allows us to illustrate our cancer experiences in ways that are beyond language.
- It can bridge the gap between the conscious and unconscious, often providing a depth of clarity, understanding, and empathy that is otherwise difficult to achieve through words alone. And by writing a short paragraph about your painting it provides a way to share your voice.
- Your health is important to us BUT just as important is your ability to share your journey in art. So we will supply the art supplies for you to do OOC in your home.
- Please take a photo of each of your completed paintings and send to ‘Dr. Pat’ (patricia.w.nishimoto.civ@mail.mil) along with the ‘story’ about your painting and how it expresses your journey.
Mahalo for your support and understanding as we keep the spirit of OOC alive.
It is this time of the year again and we will celebrate Oncology on Canvas! A time to get together and use art to express our unique oncology journey. The most important is that you show up and use the art supplies creatively. If you can please call and register to help them make sure there will be enough food and art supplies and all events, but everyone is welcome, registered or not.
Oncology on Canvas helps people living with cancer and those that love and care for them to cope with disease through art.
No previous art experience is needed, there are no age restrictions and everyone is welcome!!
