Kōkua Mau Meeting April 2026 – Burnout
April 30 @ 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm HST
Alexis Fodran, DNP, APRN, Director of Palliative Care at Navian will be our guest speaker and present her recent research for her DNP (Doctor of Nursing Practice) as well as lead us in practical exercises for burnout prevention. (Short exercises that all of us can make time for!!)
Burnout is a phenomenon that affects every workplace; palliative care and hospice work are especially susceptible. Given the projected growth of the aging population, skilled healthcare workers are necessary to care for our kūpuna.
In efforts to address this phenomenon, significant research has been done to address this concern. One area of research that has shown benefit is the implementation of a mindfulness program. The Palouse Program has been researched highlighting improvements in burnout, and this program was implemented at a home-based palliative care and hospice agency. Please join us for updates from the community and let Jeannette know if you have information to share.
