Caring the Pacific Way

Jeannette Koijane, Executive Director of Kōkua Mau, will be presenting "Caring the Pacific Way", an overview recent palliative care efforts in Micronesia and American Samoa.

  1. Describe the current situation in the USAPI with regards to the need for palliative care and palliative care training
  2. Describe components of a culturally and resource appropriate palliative care curriculum.

Jeannette Koijane has been involved in the Palliative Care Curriculum for the USAPI (US  Affiliated Pacific  Islands) since it inception. She has been  assisting the jurisdictions to develop palliative care programs through a collaboration of Kōkua Mau with the UH Cancer Center and the Department for Family Medicine and Community Health, John A. Burns School of Medicine.
