SUMMARY:Kōkua Mau Monthly Meeting November 2018
DESCRIPTION:Join us at our monthly meetings at our new meeting place at the Hongwaji at the Pali. \nIn November we will have and interesting hands on presentation about TFT or Thought Filed Therapy by Dr. Caroline Sakai. We hope you can join us for this special presentation. \nCaroline E. Sakai\, PhD is a clinical psychologist in private practice\, who was formerly chief psychologist at Kaiser Hawaii Behavioral Health Services. She’s deployed on trauma relief missions to New Orleans and Rwanda. She has published articles on Thought Field Therapy\, EMDR\, and domestic violence\, and her book “Overcoming Adversity: How Energy Tapping Transforms Your Life’s Worst Experiences – A Primer for Posttraumatic Growth”. See her website at www.tftcenter.com \nThought Field Therapy (TFT) is the original energy tapping methodology developed by clinical psychologist Roger Callahan. It is a self-treatment that utilizes the acupoints used in acupuncture and acupressure. TFT has been used effectively with posttraumatic stress\, trauma\, anxiety\, depression\, grief\, anger\, chronic pain\, phobias and many other conditions and symptoms. It can be done by tapping or massaging the acupoints\, and can be also be done by mentally focusing on the points once the treatment protocols are mastered. It is beneficial for practitioners who do the treatment on themselves while the client does the treatment on themselves\, and both experience the benefits. Caretakers can do the treatments as bilateral massage of the acupoints on the patient. TFT protocols can be adapted for very young children\, people with cognitive or other serious challenges\, as well as infants and animals. \nWhile there are various levels of treatment\, the basics can be learned readily and Caroline will demonstrate and teach examples focused on our ‘Ohana working in palliative care settings. \nThurs. Nov 29\, 2018\n3pm-5pm\nHonpa Hongwanji Hawaii Betsuin\nMulti-purpose Room\, downstairs\n1727 Pali Highway\nHonolulu\, HI 96813 \nPlease access to the temple campus is from driveway off Lusitana Street\, not the Pali Highway. There is plenty of free parking all around the buildings on campus but it is suggested to park in the top parking lot. Map on our website. \nTake the first right on the Pali Highway after the merge with the H1 turn-off. Take a right on Lusitania and the driveway into the temple campus is to your right. There is a second entrance on the makai side\, right after the bus stop\, if you missed it. We are grateful for the temple to host our meetings.
