Our Palliative Care bills are moving and there is still time to write testimony on why Palliative Care is important!!\nThis legislative session two bills focusing on Palliative Care are moving through both houses of the state legislature. This bill is a collaboration with Kōkua Mau\, the American Cancer Society – Cancer Action Network (ACS-CAN) and the Department of Health. \nWe will be joining ACS-CAN on March 20 to walk around to visit legislators and talk about the benefit of Palliative Care. If you would like to join us\, please let Jeannette know. \nCurrent status of the bills: \n\nSB 804 was heard 2/25 by the Senate’s Ways and Means Committee and was approved to move forward and cross over to the House. Advance Care Planning is now a benefit for all EUTF members. \nIn this information-packed session\, led by Kokua Mau\, you’ll learn why it’s important for every adult to have an Advance Care Directive. HMSA and Kaiser Permanente will be on-site to answer your questions about this plan benefit. \nKōkua Mau’s Let’s Talk Story Program’s goal is to start and carry on the conversation in familiar settings\, breaking the ice to get people talking about uncomfortable but important topics. These conversations encourage and empower people to take action around their own health care wishes and our trained ambassadors allow participants to get answers to questions and understand decisions they may need to make. \nThe Let’s Talk Story program encourages groups to have two sessions. The two- session approach ensures good opportunities for sharing information\, reflections\, questions and time to talk with loved ones in-between.
