SUMMARY:Oncology on Canvas 2020 Modified
DESCRIPTION:Update March 16\, 2020 \n\n\n\nAloha Nui Loa\, \n\n\n\nToday\, in the context of the Covid 19 crisis and the associated precautionary cancellation of many group events\, 2020 Oncology on Canvas (OOC) at Tripler will be changed. While we won’t be sharing our cancer experiences at OOC as we have in the past\, we’re going to keep the spirit of OOC alive. \n\n\n\nI’ll be passing out art supplies to patients who come to the clinic. \n\n\n\nAt your home\, you can create and share your cancer experiences by expressing your cancer journey through your artwork and sharing the accompanying story. It is with a heavy heart that we change our traditional 2020 OOC gathering and instead work at home. \n\n\n\n“Dr. Pat” \n\n\n\nOncology on Canvas – Now at your home!\n\n\n\nOur oncology journey has been a stressful experience that too often is difficult to put into words. OOC allows us to illustrate our cancer experiences in ways that are beyond language.\n\n\n\nIt can bridge the gap between the conscious and unconscious\, often providing a depth of clarity\, understanding\, and empathy that is otherwise difficult to achieve through words alone. And by writing a short paragraph about your painting it provides a way to share your voice.\n\n\n\nYour health is important to us BUT just as important is your ability to share your journey in art. So we will supply the art supplies for you to do OOC in your home. \n\n\n\nPlease take a photo of each of your completed paintings and send to ‘Dr. Pat’ (patricia.w.nishimoto.civ@mail.mil) along with the ‘story’ about your painting and how it expresses your journey. \n\n\n\nMahalo for your support and understanding as we keep the spirit of OOC alive. \n\n\n\nIt is this time of the year again and we will celebrate Oncology on \nCanvas! A time to get together and use art to express our unique \noncology journey. The most important is that you show up and use the art\n supplies creatively. If you can please call and register to help them \nmake sure there will be enough food and art supplies and all events\, but\n everyone is welcome\, registered or not. \n\n\n\nOncology on Canvas helps people living with cancer and those that love and care for them to cope with disease through art. \n\n\n\nNo previous art experience is needed\, there are no age restrictions and everyone is welcome!! \n\n\n\nTripler Army Medical Center \n\n\n\nFriday\, April 3 in person meeting CANCELLED & Saturday\, April 4 in person meeting CANCELLED

SUMMARY:KM Community Presentation for Hui Kupuna
DESCRIPTION:This is the first of two (4/2) community presentation requested by and tailor made for Hui Kupuna Senior Club. Closed to the public. \n\n\n\nKōkua Mau’s Let’s Talk Story Program’s\n goal is to start and carry on the conversation in familiar settings\, \nbreaking the ice to get people talking about uncomfortable but important\n topics. These conversations encourage and empower people to take action\n around their own health care wishes and our trained ambassadors allow \nparticipants to get answers to questions and understand decisions they \nmay need to make. \n\n\n\nThe Let’s Talk Story program\n encourages groups to have two sessions. The two- session approach \nensures good opportunities for sharing information\, reflections\, \nquestions and time to talk with loved ones in-between. The two-session \nmodel allows time to evaluate follow-up actions.
