Dear Dementia Care Professional,
You are invited to participate in the Hawaii Pathways to Excellence in Dementia Care and Research Symposium to be held on
Friday,February 8, 2013, from 3:00pm – 5:00pm
Hilton Hawaiian Village, Coral Ballrooms. (Please note venue change).
Alzheimer’s Disease is a major public health issue and will increasingly affect the health and well-being of Hawaii’s older adults and their families. Unless the disease can be effectively prevented or treated, the number of people with Alzheimer’s Disease will increase significantly in the next twenty years. It is our vision that Hawaii will invest in dementia research to definitively prevent, treat, and cure the disease.
It is our collective responsibility to enhance ongoing research by bringing together biomedical, behavioral, and clinical science investigators to study the etiology, progression, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease and to improve health care delivery. The Executive Office on Aging is committed to foster the development of new research approaches and provide suitable environments for faculty, researchers, physicians and providers to acquire the necessary skills and experience for interdisciplinary dementia research and care. By pooling resources and working cooperatively, we can produce research findings and develop resources that could not have been achieved by individual investigators working alone. Additionally, we would seize the opportunity to be part of a wider national and international collaborative network of dementia research consortium.
