Let’s Talk Story: The Importance of Conversations about What Matters Most

February 21, 2018 @ 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm HST

FACE and Kōkua Mau invite you to join us on Feb. 21, 2-3:30pm to meet with our visiting guest, the Rev. Rosemary Lloyd from The Conversation Project, a national public engagement campaign dedicated to helping people talk about their wishes for end-of-life care so those wishes will be respected. She will share her non-profit’s free tools and resources to help you and your congregation engage in essential, values-based conversations about what matters most about living.

Wednesday Feb. 21
1:30-3:00pm
FACE Long Term Care Committee
Central Union Church, 1660 S. Beretania, Honolulu

The Conversation Project has learned from faith communities across the country that congregations are natural environments for talking about the tender and vital topics related to illness and wishes for care at the end of life. People gathering in familiar places with people they know and trust seem open and willing to talk about mortal matters. With guidance from their clergy leaders, congregants are better prepared to embrace the reality of their mortality and not postpone having these important conversations. With education, appropriate tools, encouragement and support, congregants are strengthened to share their wishes and give their loved ones the gift of knowing what matters most to them when it comes to end-of-life care so no one is left in the dark.
