Speakers:
Kamal Masaki, MD is Professor and Chair of the Dept. of Geriatric Medicine at the John A Burns School of Medicine, UH. She is Director of the Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program at UH Manoa and is board certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine. She has been performing aging and dementia research for the past 25 years, and has been Investigator and Clinical Director for many large longitudinal epidemiologic studies, including the Honolulu Heart Program, Honolulu-Asia Aging Study of dementia, and Hawaii Lifespan Study. She is Co-Principal Investigator for the Pacific Islands Geriatric Education Center (GEC) and has received numerous teaching and research awards, as well as co-authoring of over 200 publications in scientific journals.

Pamela Ah Nee, MA Psychology, MA Education, is the Oahu Program Specialist for the Alzheimer’s Association – Aloha Chapter. In 2012, following the death of her grandmother who had dementia, she joined the Association as Director of Programs. She has completed numerous lectures on Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias and trains family caregivers as well as staff of care homes and residential centers, and community organizations. She is mother of 5 and grandmother of 14. Pamela’s heart is committed to assisting caregivers. Her passion is to continually look for ways to ease caregiver stress load, helping with effective communication with the person with dementia and assisting caregivers dealing with challenging behaviors. She will be presenting “Healthier Habits for a Healthier You” - an education program by the Alzheimer’s Association that helps people "to learn about research in the areas of diet and nutrition, exercise, cognitive activity and social engagement, and use hands-on tools to help you incorporate these recommendations into a plan for healthy aging.”
